The fishing pier is a well visited attraction for both locals and tourists. Surf fishing from the beach is permitted but the pier offers up an experience not available from the beach. Some of the more common fish that are caught and sought here include king mackerel, bluefish, flounder, Spanish mackerel, drum, whiting, spot and sea trout. With a gift/bait shop walk through and all the fishing you want Myrtle Beach State Park pier is one of my favorites. No fee to sight see, other than the park fee itself, it's definitely a must see if you're in town.
